6 Struggles Keeping You from Achieving a Successful Weight Loss Transformation

April 8th, 2019 by Transform HQ

Do you find yourself always setting the same weight loss goals over and over again? Every so often, you get a rush of motivation to really buckle down, eat right, and exercise your way to your ideal weight.

So you start on a Monday (because we all know the diet starts Monday!) with a long workout, followed by a few sparse meals of chicken and veggies and lots of water. You white-knuckle your way through the week, and by Friday, you’re tapped out. Sound familiar?>

Trying to lose weight can be daunting! You know where you want to end up, but you don’t always know exactly how to get there.

We’re going to run through 6 BIG struggles that keep people from reaching their goals, and then show you the ultimate solution to help you succeed once and for all!

#1. Taking On Too Much, All At Once

Goals are easy to set, but not always as easy to achieve.

You don’t know HOW to achieve those goals. You know the old saying, “How do you eat an elephant? Bite by bite!”

The decision to lose weight shouldn’t start with exercising two hours a day and eating just 1,000 calories a day of only chicken, broccoli, and rice.

Taking on too much all at once will be overwhelming, and making strict, unrealistic changes like this will become discouraging, boring, and you’ll eventually want to give up and give in.

Weight loss needs to be broken down into smaller, achievable goals.

But which changes should you make?

#2. The Thought of “How to Start” Is Overwhelming

It can be so confusing just thinking about where to start. The beginning of developing healthy habits is half the struggle! When you can get past that, the rest is good old-fashioned discipline.

Which changes should you make first to your nutrition? Which changes should you make to your exercise plan?

#3. Thinking You’re Not a Priority

With so many responsibilities you have every day—families, school or jobs, you name it, it’s easy to think “I don’t have time” or “work/family comes first.”

It’s easy to put yourself in the backseat and forget about yourself in the chaos of running around and trying to survive the day-to-day errands and responsibilities.

When we fly on an airplane, the flight attendants direct passengers, in case of emergency, to first put the oxygen mask on first before you can put it on anyone else. The same goes in everyday life—we cannot be helpful to anyone around us if we are struggling.

When you put yourself first and get healthy and happy, you will be able to help others so much more than you ever could imagine.

But how do you put yourself first, or even find the time?

#4. Engaging in Negative Self-Talk

You tell yourself it’s too late for you to try and lose weight. You start believing that you will never be to transform your life. You start convincing yourself that you’ve failed in the past, which means you’ll fail again, and that there is no way out of this cycle.

Before you change your eating habits or learn how to exercise, you HAVE to change that negative thought right there.

There is nothing more destructive to your confidence and future success than a lack of belief in yourself. It’s easy to let past failings tell you a negative story of how your life will continue to play out.

Cut it out!

How do you begin to switch the dialogue you’re having with yourself? How do you start to see you are stronger than you think?

#5. Believing You Need to Exercise For Hours Every Day

You most likely don’t have all the time in the world to spend hours and hours at the gym. But you need to in order to see results, right? (Spoiler alert: NOPE!)

Maybe you don’t have a gym pass, what then?

How are you supposed to be able to implement some exercise to help fuel your weight loss results?

#6. Patience and Consistency Aren’t Your Strong Suit

We all live in a world of immediate reward! And not one of us escapes wanting speedy results and quick progress.

Our lives move fast these days—so often people want to jump to the results and aren’t interested in spending time laying a foundation of healthy habits and making permanent changes in their mental game.

Especially in the fitness industry where quick fixes, crash diets, and magazine headlines that promise washboard abs overnight, are everywhere!

In today’s world, there isn’t much encouragement to stay patient or consistent, but those two skills are, without doubt, the most important to develop when it comes to achieving weight loss.

  5. Beatriz Velez

My struggles are little time to myself and keeping up with what I need to eat. Always falling short on my macros.
    Also, little sleep.
    Sometimes motivation because I’m tired.
And also scared to eat so much food on high carb days.
