So what do we mean, "start with your why?"

Simply put, your WHY is your motivation. A powerful WHY is going to drive you forward and help you stay determined and on track with your goals.

When the going gets tough–and we can guarantee that it will–a powerful WHY will keep you focused and dedicated.

That's why finding your WHY is SO important. It should not be taken lightly!

But the key isn't just finding a WHY, but a powerful one!

What Is a Powerful Why?

When we initially ask our Transform customers about their WHYfor losing weight, here are the top five answers we get:

  1. Kids
  2. Health
  3. Spouse/Partner
  4. Job
  5. Self-confidence/Self-worth

And while these are a great start, research shows general goals (or WHYs) like above, though they sound really good, aren't that effective unless they are accompanied by very smaller specific actions/goals.

For WHYs to be effective, they need to be specific and continually updated.
So what does that mean?

Let's take a look a the top WHY on our list above, which is "Kids."

A more specific WHY could be, for example, could be to be able to get off the couch and onto the floor to play with their kids for 5 minutes.

Once that is achieved, an updated WHY could be to take the kids on a walk, then eventually running a 5k with the family!

When deciding on a powerful WHY, make sure that it is both specific and something that can be updated once you achieve it, because you will!

Your Why Should Be Unique to YOU

The decision to begin transforming is different for everyone. For some, it could be a health scare, like diabetes or precursors for heart disease.

For others, it could be wanting to transform to be a better parent or a more involved spouse.

And yet, for others, it may be wanting to look and feel better about themselves and feel desired.

Whatever your WHY is, make it personal. Don't rush through discovering your WHY.

Your why needs to come from a place of passion. You have to be willing to make it a priority like you would an emergency or a crisis.

If your why doesn't move you, you won't have the drive to do what it takes to complete the journey.
